Everybody has to grow old at some point because time does not stand still for nobody, what is questionable is our current perceptions and beliefs of which we hold about ageing, life expectancy and more importantly the quality of life you can have as you advance into old age and beyond what is classed as old age in the west. 

It is important to feel young and keep active both physically ad mentally because there are no set rules to what is really achievable and possible only rules and society conditioning that are becoming out dated as more and more people are pushing themselves beyond the barriers and restrictions of past beliefs and idea's. 

Disregard your age because it does not matter how old you feel because it's about how good and young you feel and how active you keep so throw away the rule book and keep yourself fit and healthy and nurcher a positive mindset because to a degree aging is a perception.

If you follow the guidelines of your predecessors you will live the life and restrictions of them. You might be pleasantly surprised to know that there is already a small tribal group living in a remote location in the Himalayas who are already living well beyond what is thought possible.

Most of people's perceptions of how long their are supposed to live and what is expected to happen to them as they journey along their time line of life are based on the information they have been fed up to date, by your society conditioning and by yourself. 

Because there is a lot you can do to help you live a longer and healthier life if you are willing and prepared to make some positive healthy lifestyle and dietary changes.

More and more people are now already living longer and healthier lives, the average life span has been extending for years now which indicates nothing is set in stone. 

Of course modern science, better nutrient and better health care plays an important role in this and many of those once fatal diseases have been eradicated, but you can add even more quality years to your life just by following the basic principals of life that sadly most people ignore these days. 

Along with the advancement in science and medicine there are some old traditional simple ways of living that can increase your vitality and longevity which some of the ancient mystics and spiritual leaders have been preaching and practisin for centuries. The secret to adding good quality years to your life are pretty basic.

So how many years can you add on to your life and what age can you expect to live to? There are no exact limits to what's possible things are changing all the time, a lot depends on your current lifestyle/

If you want to live longer you may need to make some lifestyle changes, it is no secret that stress and negative thinking is responsible for many premature disease, good healthy food and nutrient also plays a key role.

Most people would consider a hundred years old to be a good age to reach, but did you know that there is a small remote country in northern Pakistan in the mountain peaks of the Himalayas called Hunza where the people are renowned for living well beyond what is considered your average lifespan. 

The average life span in southern Hunza is claimed to be around 115 years old which is pretty staggering and it is not uncommon for some of them to reach !30 and amazingly it is even believed some even reach !45.

But it's not just their longevity that is amazing everybody, they also seem to be extremely fit, virile, vibrant and active well beyond a hundred years old. This small population that appears cut off form the rest of the world seem to be void of all the common diseases. 

But it does not stop there, the Hunza people possess an abundance of energy and enthusiasm not to mention, they look young for their years.

In fact, it is claimed that they are so physically fit and in peak condition at a hundred years old that the males still father children whilst the woman of Hunza who are approaching one hundred years look the equivalent of an average American forty year old. 

Their perception of ageing appears to be different to the western world to such a degree that they don't even class a hundred years as being old and even though this is seen as a ripe old age to reach in the west, to the people of Hunza they still class 100 as being youthful.

Eat Healthy Keep Active And Learn How To Relax

This makes you wonder whether the cycle of ageing in the west is partially to do with belief and an expectancy too only live a certain age, coupled with poor diet and a stressful lifestyle. 

It may not be advisable to aim to reach a set target, instead your goal should be to live healthy and as long as possible. It is well known that a Mediterranean style diet rich in plant foods such as fruit, beans and vegetables combined with fish and nuts can help to increase your life span. 

Other advice from the experts is to use olive oil as your spread instead of dairy. With the advancement of technology more people are living sedentary lifestyles, so it is recommended that you get up and move about regularly as well as keeping active, it is wise to stay both mentally and physically active. 

Try and live an enriched and happy life style, this may involve in being socially active, however if you are the type of person who likes to stay at home more, do things to keep you mentally stimulated or join in things like forum discussions or social media sites.

So why do these people defy the odds and expectations of the rest of the world. In the west we have forgotten how to relax and eat healthy, perhaps our beliefs play an important role too, what we think we create, so it makes sense to think right which means only think about what you want, so think thoughts of good health and longevity. 

Of course there are other factors to consider like being the idea weight for our height as well as living a good active and healthy lifestyle devoid of worry and stress. 

Because when we are in a constant state of stress we shift to a fear driven survival mode, in this negative state we start to feel more threatened and all our focus goes off all the good things life has to offer and onto keeping safe and avoiding dangers that only exist in our imagination and our default perceptions. 

Too live longer you need to feel balanced as well as feeling good and at ease most of the time. Posture also plays an important role, poor posture can disrupt the bodies natural energy balance.

Maintaining and upright, aligned but relaxed posture and it must be relaxed can make you look younger, feel more energized and when it is coupled with regular exercise it can help you to stay in peak physical condition.

One thing that has been established from the research done on the people of southern Hunza is, good diet and proper nutrition along with a stress free life is the best medicine and recipe for longevity that you can get. 

The Hunza people work hard and keep active, they eat for health benefits and not to satisfy their taste buds, for convenience or to pacify their food cravings, all their food is nutritious and fresh and their diet consists of a lot of fresh and raw fruits and vegetables.

Their diet also consists of many grains, barley, millet and wheat, there is a lot of truth about the old saying you are what you eat, you are also what you think and believe. 

If your thinking on embarking on a long and healthy life then you also need to fill your life with plenty of fun, enjoyment and endless optimism, because it is important to keep on loving your life as well as maintaining a positive and optimistic outlook.

So start to develop a new zest for life, after all if your aim is to live longer you want to enjoy it and make the most out of it, especially as happiness is regarded as one of the key elements too living longer. 

Also learn to chill out and not take life or yourself so serious, try not to allow external outside circumstance to control your feelings. Sometimes we can over think things, we spend hours wasting our time worrying over trivial things, negative thinking is pointless and it is also bad for your health. 

Perhaps we sometimes need to resort back to the simple ways of living, sometimes good health, good food and the beauty of nature is all we need. The Hunza people have little in the way of technology and material possessions but what they lack they make up in longevity, peak physical condition and health. 

They may live a simple and basic lifestyle but they are not burdened with high blood pressure, heart diseases and all the other stress related illnesses.

Remember we are all spiritual beings living in a physical body so be nice to your inner being, talk to yourself nicely in a positive and kind way. Sometimes we over complicate life, it's perfectly natural to have desires but where we slip up is we become too desperate to have everything instantly, this attitude of impatience can lead to disappointment and frustration. 

Creating the life you want should be fun and exciting but desperation and impatience trips most people up. The west civilization has come to live life in the fast lane, everything has to be done in a hurry, however speed and rushing is the fuel of stress.

Sometimes we need to accept that we have to wait and be patient at times and everything does not have to be done in a day. Also the need to look good, to come across as perfect and impress others only adds to heap on more unwanted pressure and stress on ourselves.

Seeking perfection can take us further away from who we truly are in our quest to be something were not, perfection is impossible because we can never stop improving and growing, yes everybody should have the confidence too improve, but you should do it at a pace that is right for you without causing yourself any unnecessary worry or stress.

Another thing that causes us worry and stress is trying to please and impress others along with trying to satisfy our ego, once you stop feeding your ego you will return to a much more relaxed and balanced state of being.

The need to succeed and do well should not take away the enjoyment of your goals and your life, wanting and expecting too much too soon can lead to more stress and disappointment. 

There is no need to rush all the time, we all need to slow down a bit and chill out, self acceptance is a good place to start if you want to take away some of your stress and anxiety, once you learn too accept yourself faults included and you accept that things can go wrong from time to time, then you can start to grow and expand.

There is nothing wrong with having the good things in life, but they should not be at the expense of your health and emotional well-being, "love what you do and do what you love." 

At times we need to go back to our basic grass roots, the only necessities we need are water, good food, shelter, warmth and love and respect for ourselves and our fellow human beings, everything else is a bonus.
