Setting And Achieving Goals

At the beginning of each year everybody sets themselves new goals or new years resolutions, which are very often the same ones as they set last year, but very few people stick to their new year's resolutions.

The ones who will succeed are the ones who have a burning desire and the ones who are fully committed to take daily action steps towards a clearly defined and specific goal.

Goals keep you alive and focused, but they take work and a big commitment, plus a lot of self discipline to achieve them, if all goals were meant to be easy, everybody would be successful.

Therefore, if your intentions are not strong or the reasons for achieving a goal are weak like most new years resolutions are, then this will significantly reduce your chances of achieving them.

To increase your chances of success, your goal should be something that you really want to do and something that you're specific and clear about.

Preferably a goal should excite you and it should be something that is going to help you grow, better your life or improve your health.

Because, If you want to stay motivated throughout your goal, especially when times get tough, and they usually do.

Then in order to come through the challenging times, your goal needs to be some positive reasons and benefits to why you're attempting your goal.

Because to achieve success and the results that you want, your goal has to be backed by plenty of enthusiasm, inspiration and passion, and a strong desire.

Otherwise, you will find out, that a goal without passion is like doing a task or something you feel you need to do, rather than you wanting to do it.

Ideally, your goal should be something that you like doing so it does not seem like laborious hard work.

Your, should see your goal as something that is worth the effort because it will give you a better quality of life, and maybe take you out of a place of stagnation or free you from the daily grind of your job, or give you a sense of personal achievement and pride.

Although there needs to be a positive and rewarding outcome or benefit for achieving your goal, it should not all be about the end result.

Some goals can take time and time is precious so you should aim to make your journey to be as equally as important as the desired outcome.

Your goal should be made as enjoyable as possible and a chance for you to do a bit of self-exploration, learning, getting better.

It should also be a personal growth journey and a journey of discovery.

To achieve your goal and to get better results, you need to stay energized, focused and productive.

How to go about achieving your goal

You probably really want to achieve your goal, but you may ask yourself, how do you go about achieving your goal.

To begin with, if you want to be successful, you have to think successful and create the same positive habits of the successful.

Your greatest asset is you, and you power to be able to tap into your true capabilities and transform your life, which have no limits, unless you place limits on yourself.

Once you have decided what you want, before you rush in and get started on your goal, do as much research into the subject and take a look at how others you are already succeeding  in the same field that you want to be successful do things.

Spend some time planning and thinking about your first step of your goal and make sure you are properly prepared.

Take a good look at all your options before you make your final decision. Rushing and trying too hard will cause you to get flustered and it will result in stress and emotional overwhelm.

Some careful thoughts and consideration as well as taking things one step at a time making sure you master each step before you move on to the next level and collecting as much information as you can will serve you better, than just rushing in without any plan or direction.

Taking things steady and getting things right at the start, can get you ahead faster and move you in the direction you want to go whist performing at your peak potential.

It is better to spend a few hours working on your goal, whilst you're feeling energized and you're at your peak performance best, than it is to spend hours working on a goal when you feel drained, unmotivated and tired.

Because you will make more progress and you will perform better when you're feeling empowered, full of energy and enthusiastic.

The trick is to stay motivated and balanced so you can better and surpass your own levels and standards as you progress on your journey to becoming a better you.

Strategically plan for your goal, write down on a piece of paper what you want to do or achieve each day.

There are only a few factors that you need to change that can take you from where you are now to where you want to be, and to get where you want will be determined by the actions you take and the things you do and the things you shouldn't do.

Big goals can be overwhelming, so to avoid all the stress and overwhelm you need to break down your bigger goals, into smaller daily goals.

You will really benefit if you lead a healthy lifestyle and you get plenty of deep relaxation, so you can set yourself up each day to reach your peak and most productive peak.

Many high achievers meditate for twenty minutes each day, especially first thing in the morning as it will set you up in a balanced state of mind for the day ahead so you will be at your peak performance best.

If you want a better life, you have to change what you do, because if you do not change, then your life won't change.

Success requires dedication and self discipline, to consistently do the things that are required so you can move towards the life that you want, despite if you have a fear of failure and despite how many times you've failed before.

When times get tough and you feel like quitting, you will need to know that all the struggles and challenges you will have to face and conquer will be worth it.

Their will be times when you will need to re-evaluate your goals to assess whether you're on track or to see if things may need changing or done a better way.

When things get hard or you hit the wall, remind yourself how it will make you a better and stronger person.

Ideally, if you can combine your goal with  something that you're passionate about or it is what you think is your true purpose in life, then that can leave you feeling more alive, motivated and inspired.

Although you do not have to be interested in what you want to achieve or do, you will probably feel more inspired if your goal is a passion or interests of yours.

Most people forget about the importance of enjoying the journey

The biggest ingredient that most people overlook in their pursuit to achieve their goals is enjoyment.

Many people rely on achieving their goals to make them feel happy and good, but when you do this then you will find that you're always chasing your happiness when really the best place to find happiness is in the now.

When you learn to enjoy the now, you will find it easier to achieve your goal, because you will be at your most creative and your most productive.

Yes, you will still hit challenges, and you cannot always control every situation, but if you're feeling good, you will be better able to handle and cope with any challenge and you will find it easier to overcome them.

To be successful, you need to be at your peak performance best, and that is not possible if you're feeling negative or overly stressed.

One of the pitfalls to success is when people become too reliant on achieving their goals, to make them feel happy.

This a fatal flaw, because feeling good and enjoying what you're doing is a vital component for becoming successful.

Yes, there will be times to take things seriously, but your goal should never be a condition for your happiness.

If you're not happy with what you're doing, then you will struggle to stay motivated and it may be a time to move on.

Many people feel depressed or frustrated because they are not fulfilling their goals or they are stuck doing something that they don't want to do.

But even though you should work on and pursue your goals, you should also make every attempt to feel happy at what you're doing in the mean time.

The less outside distractions that you have and the less negativity you have in your life, the better you're going to feel and the more productive you will be free.

Let yourself know that everything is OK and everything will work out right for you.

You want to stay in a positive mindset throughout your day, again you cannot avoid things going wrong, but you do have a choice how you wish to react to challenging situations and adversity.

To be at your best, you have to start the day off in the right frame of mind, and see each challenge as just a challenge for you to overcome.

So as soon as you open your eyes, start to direct your thoughts and feelings in the right direction, so you have control of how you want to think and feel instead of allowing your thoughts and emotions to control you.

Because, as you enter each new day, you will have a brand new opportunity to leave your old negative baggage behind you and set yourself up for a good day ahead.

Most people allow their negative past, the opinions of others or the things that they think are their restriction and limitations to define who they are emotionally and mentally as well as what they think they are capable of.

But, limitations are just beliefs and not facts and all limitations can be overcome to a large degree, so avoid allowing your so called restrictions and limiting beliefs from preventing you moving forwards.

Sometimes your bad experiences, your disappointments, your failures and limitations, can allow you and drive you on to to become stronger, more powerful and more successful, so use your adversity and setbacks to your advantage.

Because, you have to remember that nothing is set in stone, and if you can start to change your mind you can start to change your life.

Because what may seem impossible now, can become possible with the right positive attitude, faith and belief of, nothing can stop you from achieving what you want.

Your goal needs to start off with a decision to do more and to be better, often people set goals because they are not satisfied with what they have got or deep down they know there is more and that they can be more.

To succeed at your goal you have to be determined, hungry for success and passionate, which should start off with a vision of what you want to be or achieve which will sew the seeds for your future success.

Once you have started your goal you will need to keep focused on your goal, if you feel uninspired or unmotivated from time to time, you may need to re-inspire yourself, remind yourself about all the positive reasons why you want what you want.

Your goal should excite you, rather than being a chore you feel you have to do, it should be something that you truly want and desire, and the more you focus your energy the more doors will open up and the more opportunities and idea's will become to you.

Break your big goal down into small manageable steps and take one step at a time and eventually as you grow or what you're doing grows those small steps will lead you to your big final destination.

Setting yourself up for the day ahead

To succeed you need to be at your peak best, mentally, physically and emotionally, so you can get more done in less time.

Each new morning you have two choices, you can either seize the day or you can carry on where you left off the previous day.

Because if you don't intervene and take control of your thoughts, perceptions and emotions, then your circumstances, thoughts and emotions will control you.

The more you focus on the negative, the more negative stuff you will experience and the harder you will find it to be at your peak performance best.

If you're feeling negative, ask yourself why you feel low or why you're in a bad mood, evaluate your life and where you are right now with your goal, and take things from them.

if you are currently stuck or you have a problem or challenge to overcome, then you have to access your current situation and do what is necessary to resolve it and keep on moving forwards.

But when you focus more on the positive, feeling good and things going well, then even if any negative stuff crops up, you will quickly be able to deal with it or dismiss it and move on.

As soon as you wake up, find something to be grateful for, no matter how small, instead of instantly giving all your attention to your problems and worries.

Because you first priority in the morning should be to make yourself feel good, so you can set yourself up to have the best day possible.

Tell yourself, you are good enough ten times, then set an intention, that you're going to have a great day.

Visualize, your day going great, see yourself handling any challenges and see yourself enjoying yourself.

The first part of a goal is, to decide and know what you want, then fully commit yourself to that goal.

It is also a good idea to have a plan and a strategy to follow, this may alter as you go along.

But when you make your plans for your goal, don't forget to include enjoyment and fun into your journey.

The only thing that can stop you from becoming more successful and to fulfill your goals and ambitions is a negative attitude and mindset.

If you have to combine a full time job with your goal, then make an effort to try and enjoy your job so you keep that positive energy going, also make sure you don't burn out or you don't over do things.

Many people are working all day long, and because of this they are not fulfilling, their dreams and goals, because it can be tough to try and motivate yourself when you're feeling tired.

You may have been living an ordinary life, but you're are not ordinary, and you have the inner strength and the ability to achieve anything that you put your mind to.

Life can be tough and no one is exempt from the challenges and difficulties life can throw at you.

If you allow your negative experiences to win and rule you, then life will bring you down and keep you down.

The secret to success and achieving great things depends on how many knocks that you can take and how many times you can get back up and keep moving relentlessly forwards.

Your strength lies with your inner resolve and determination to ride any storm, take any knocks get straight back up and still remain positive whilst failure and adversity is staring you in the face, and to come through it and do and make things even better.

Winners keep moving forwards and they keep learning and growing despite what life throws at them.

You cannot always control what life deals you, but you can control the way you react to it.

At the end of the day, you're either going to design and create your own life or you're going to be a victim of your circumstances and experiences.

Do not be afraid to make mistakes or get things wrong, just use your mistakes to make sure you grow and get things right.

The more skillful or knowledgeable you become with your goal subject, the more value you will have to offer.

To achieve your goals and to keep moving forwards you will need plenty of self discipline and self encouragement, because you are your best motivator.

You will also need plenty of faith and belief to you reach a point where you know you will succeed even when all the odds seem to be stacked against you.

It is also a good idea to keep a journal where you can write down your progress as you go, no matter how big or small.

Because when you're struggling, you feel like you have hit a plateau, your spirit feels broken or you're feeling like things aren't working out for you.

Then it can give you a boost to take a look back into your journal to see exactly how far you have come and how well you're really doing.

Never see yourself as a failure when success seems out of your reach, failures are part of learning, growing and a chance to become even better.

You can only fail if you fail to try.

Persistence is the key to success

Success does not always come easy or quickly and very rarely is success handed to you on a plate.

But if you persist and you show a lot of self discipline and you do not quit, then in the end the universe will have to yield to your persistence and determination and you will win.

When adversity strikes and your faith begins to diminish you have to dig in deep into your inner resolve and resources and remind yourself exactly why you wanted to succeed in the first place.

Such as making a better life for you and your family, health benefits or personal achievements.

After each setback and failure you should dust yourself down and then learn an important and valuable lesson.

People who live normal and average lives, either never set themselves goals or they quit after their first failure, setback or rejection.

Highly successful people would not be where they are today if they decided to throw in the towel after every setback or disappointment.

Sometimes it seems as if the universe or the higher powers throw us a test to see if we have got what it takes to accomplish a big goal.

Maybe the universal intelligence network, thinks there is no point in helping people who are not prepared to take the setbacks, as they won't carry out the work that is needed to change lives.

Therefore, a strong persistence and inner courage which needs to be cultivated from within is one of the biggest ingredients needed for success and goal completion.

You will also need an unwavering desire, a willingness to learn and accumulate an accurate and proven knowledge data base.

Other things that may be required are advancing in your skill level, because to become successful you first have to be good and excel at the thing or things that you're doing.

Although you may originally set yourself a specific goal or target, your journey to be successful should not stop there.

Once you get into the habit of being successful, you want to keep on striving to do better or set more goals, because success really needs to be a mindset and a new way of life.

This will help you to make it a habit to always focus on a positive and better future rather than brooding over the past.

Being successful is not all about achieving physical targets or results, it also should have a lot to do with who you are and the better person that you're becoming, not to mention helping and adding value to other people's lives.

Trying to figure it all out on your own takes a lot of time, and you will make a lot more mistakes, making you feel frustrated, demoralized, lost, confused and overwhelmed.

All of which does not make a good foundation and recipe for long term and sustained levels of success

You will also develop the power of forming positive habits, a clear plan or strategy, will power and help from others who have already succeeded in the field you're entering.
