7 Tips On How To Save Money Or Make Your Money Go Further?

Are you spending more money than you're making, do you want to make your hard earned money go further, or are you thinking about trying to make a bit of extra money

There is a lot of advice about making money floating about, some of it is genuine, some of it, is shady. 

The general rule is, if it sounds too good to be true, then it is probably worth, doing a bit of research first, and it may be wise to steer clear of any get rich overnight schemes. 

It is possible, to make more money, but instead of all the get rich quick approaches, a more realistic way, is to progressively attempt to gradually increase your income and make your current income go further.

Because, before you attempt to make more money, you may need to learn how to manage your budget.

I am not saying that you're going to be the next millionaire, but these days there are more opportunities than ever, to earn a bit of extra cash.

If you can, it makes logical sense to try and make a bit of extra cash, maybe you could start a second source of income, sell some stuff on ebay, do a car boot.

In the meantime, if you're struggling to make ends meet, then in the short term, you will have to try to live to your means and make your money go further. 

Time is more precious than money, and although it is good to have more money, it should not be at a cost.

Because it is also important to invest more time in you and your family, and make sure that you have more leisure and free time.

Free time is more valuable, than physical possessions.

1) Trim

Make a list of your incomings and outgoings, ideally you want a bit more coming in than you have, going out.

If you're spending more than you're earning, then sooner or later you are going to get yourself in trouble.

These days it is so easy to run up a credit card and get yourself in debt. If you have run up your credit card, then many experts recommend getting a low interest loan, to pay of your credit card.

Analyze your outgoings, and see if there is any way that you can cut your costs, look for bargains, search for better deal or buy things cheaper.

Use the comparison websites to see if you can get a better deal on your energy bills or insurance, most people tend to stick with the same suppliers, when they could get a better deal. 

Spend some time, going through your outgoings and bills, and see if you can either cut them or get a better deal

If you do not want to change your supplier, ask them for a better or more affordable deal. If you have a mortgage, shop around for the best deal.

With a bit of effort, you can make some savings on your bills and outgoings, without having to make too many sacrifices to your life.

Do not unnecessarily leave on electrical devices or lights, when they're not needed. 

Electric showers tend to use up a lot of electricity, if you have a non electrical shower, take a shower instead of having a bath.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to have physical possession, especially if they're going to give us pleasure and satisfaction.

However, very often, we tend to buy things that we don't really need or use.

A sale or bargain, is only a good bargain, if it is something that you already want.

If you need to buy a new car, shop around. If you are prepared to go without all the gimmicks, you can buy a reasonably cheap car, the same applies to many other things.

2) Keep a track of your spending

It is important to keep an eye on what you're spending, it can pay to record all your money going out for a month or two, as you may be surprised to see how much you're spending on things like food, coffee, clothing, drinks and many other things, water is inexpensive and very good for you.

Write down all your expenses for a month, write down how much you spend each month on your bills and yourself and family, and see if you much you need to survive on and see if you can make some cuts or change things.

If you have any money left at the end of the month, you can either save it, or use it, try to buy the things that you need first, before you buy the things that you want.

It may to carry a small notebook and pen, so you can write what your spending down on a day to day basis.

Many people do not know where their money is going out, so it may pay you, to review where your money is going out and keep a close check on it.

Try not to use your car for very short journey's, if where you're going is in walking distance, leave the car at home, the exercise will also do you good.

We often buy items, gimmicks and things that we don't really need.

Shops and supermarkets are very good at putting temptations right in front of your nose, by placing treats and gimmicks around the checkout area.

Having a day out can end up costing you quite a lot of money, put a bit of careful preplanning and preparation can save you quite a bit of money.

Because, having a fun day out doesn't have to be expensive, if you're going out for the day, prepare and take your own food and drinks and make sure you equip yourself with everything you need, so you don't end up having to buy something because you forgot to take it with you.

When you're looking for energy efficient devices, appliances for your home, before you buy, take a look at the energy rating label on appliances.

You may also need to give a bit of consider the size of the appliance that you are looking for, you need something that will meet your requirements, but nothing that is bigger or uses more energy than is necessary.

Try and find the ideal match, that suits your requirements and is the most efficient.

If you're not using an electrical appliance, turn it off, even leaving things on standby mode, can increase your electric bills.

Many people are updating to smart meters as these can help you track the amount of electricity you're using and they will show you which gadgets and devices are using the most energy.

Cooking with a microwave oven can be cheaper than using a conventional oven.

Investing in things like a push lawn mower, can save you money and it can help to keep you active and fit.

Eating a few more salad meals, or having a smoothie or two, can help you save on electricity and keep you healthy and slim at the same time.

If you purchase the Energy Star certified products when you buy a new electrical device, such as a new oven, toaster, washing machine, microwave or many other electrical devices, then you can make significant savings over a year period.

If you have to buy a new microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, ceiling fan or other appliance, shop for Energy Star certified products. 

These appliances offer significant savings in operation, often saving you enough money to pay for the appliance in just a few months. 

Washing machine technologies have come particularly far recently, and you can now get a machine that costs less than $80 per year to operate.

4) Cut back on your recreational pleasures

If you like to smoke or drink, try and cut back on the amounts you smoke or drink, if you do not want to give them up, then you could try rolling your own cigarettes or buying cheaper alcohol.

Eating a healthy, well balanced diet, and cutting out some of those sugary snacks or junk foods with little nutritious value, can both, save you money and improve your health, as well as helping you to look slimmer.

Make your own healthy food and take it to work, you can also take a few bottles of water, instead of buying too many snacks, sugary drinks and fast food, by doing this you can save a lot of money each day. 

If you enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, then you can buy a flask, and make your own at home and take it with you to work.

If you go out most nights, you may need to cut it down a few night's per week, or if you do go out, try to minimize the amount you spend or don't go to the most expensive places all the time.

Again, you can have a good night out, without spending too much, try to learn to enjoy yourself without having to much to drink.

If you convince yourself that you need alcohol to enjoy yourself or to help you be more confident, then you will come to depend on it. Work on your self confidence, and you will save yourself a fortune.

5) Cut back on your personal expenditures

If you're not too proud, then you can get very cheap clothes, bags, jewelry, books and other personal items at places like charity shops, ebay, or at car boots, some of these clothes and items have hardly been used and you can get high quality brands and labels.

There are also many shops and retail outlets where you can buy inexpensive clothes, makeup and personal accessories, or you can swap stuff with your friends and family.

Try not to use your phone so much, it may even pay to switch to a pay as you go, so you cannot run up a big phone bill.

6) Shop around

Keep a check on your food bills, you will be surprised how much you can cut off your weekly food bills if you shop around.

Before you do your weekly or monthly shop, make a list and stick to your list, as it can be very tempting to put in your shopping trolley more stuff than you planned or those bargains that they offer.

There are plenty of supermarkets, where you can slash a lot of money off your shopping bill, or you can buy the supermarkets own brands.

The same applies to all the other things that you buy.

Buying stuff online can cut back on the expenses of having to go out and use fuel for your car or pay for public transport, not to mention all the food and drink that you would have bought.

7) Look after yourself

By taking good care of yourself, getting a good night's sleep, learning how to relax, being positive and happy and keeping yourself fit and healthy, you will have less trouble with illnesses and things like colds and flu.

Not only will this, help you to cut back on cold, flu and other remedies, you will also lose less time off work.  

Many people comfort eat or compulsively spend to cope with their emotions.

Our brain's primary job is to move us away from pain and guide us towards pleasure, when you're feeling overly stressed or emotionally overwhelmed.

Then your brain will push you to eat those good tasting sugary foods or to go out on a spending spree, because your brain thinks that they will give you pleasure.

By learning, emotional intelligence, and learning how to relax, reduce your stress and manage your emotions, you will lose the urge to binge eat and spend, this can save you a lot of money.

Develop a strong will power, so when you're tempted to buy something that you don't really need, you will become stronger than those urges and compulsions, if you have a compulsion, allow it to come and go, but don't act upon it.
