Avoiding Health Problems When You Reach Your Middle Age
The BBC has recently published a health report where experts are warning some people who are in or they are approaching their middle age, may be facing a health crisis unless they change their unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits.
The report claims that most men and woman who are in their middle age, ranging from their 40's to their 60's are overweight, inactive and they drink and smoke too much.
Although is mainly aimed at, the 40 to 60 age group, it doesn't matter what your age is, it is important to try and stick to a healthy lifestyle, because prevention is always better than a cure.
Sometimes by the time you reach your middle age, the damage can already be done, so the earlier you start adopting a healthier lifestyle, the better.
Experts suggest that obesity, which is believed to increase the chances of getting type 2 diabetes and many more health related illnesses, can be prevented to a large degree just by losing weight and returning back to your natural healthy weight.
The way we live our lives is changing
These days, many of people's weight problems and unhealthy lifestyles are not entirely all their own fault.
Technology and modern living to a degree is making us lazy. It can be a little bit too easy, to jump in the car to do those short runs, where you would benefit more from walking and it is very easy to grab a fast food meal rather than making yourself a healthy option.
The world is changing and things are forever evolving, and although we are living longer, we are becoming less active, unfit and out of shape.
Many people due to their jobs and the advancement of technology, combined with a change in lifestyle and bad eating habits are beginning to pay the price.
With the sometimes fast pace of modern day living you can easily get sucked into bad daily habits and routines until they become normal to you.
But although it is wise to learn to relax more adopt some healthier lifestyles choices and practices.
This does not mean you have to sacrifice all the things you enjoy, and it is more of a case of adapting your life to suit the environmental changes.
It can be hard to change our eating habits, the temptation is rife and there is a lot of choices to pick from.
These day's it is very easy to buy fast food, after all it is readily available and usually the easy option.
But you can buy healthier foods in the high street and most of them these days offer healthier options.
Don't leave until it's
Many people don't do anything until they have a health scare or a wake up call. This does not mean you have got to make instant drastic changes straight away.
Because, just by making few healthy lifestyle tweaks and choices now, can help you to avoid health issues later on.
Although technology is advancing for the better, this is not always good for our health, for some, our lifestyles have become less healthy and active and more people are spending long periods sitting down.
Due to the environmental changes, more people are relying on fast foods and they are living more sedentary lives than our predecessors.
Add on top of this, the increase in people's stress levels, then it is no surprise that experts are claiming, those who are living an unhealthy lifestyles are running the risk of heading into a middle age health crisis.
If you feel like you're overweight, set a realistic target weight to aim for, and just make some new healthy lifestyle choices and changes.
Experts are advising us to eat healthily and do more exercise, however, for some people after a long hard day, they have not got the time or energy to exercise.
If you are short on time, then an alternative to exercising could be to try to turn your fitness into an activity that you can fit into your daily schedule.
Or maybe something that you can look forward to every day, like walking or something that you enjoy instead of forcing yourself yourself to exercise and do something that you don't really want to do,
Eat for nutritious reasons and benefits
Many people eat for convenience rather than eating healthy, These days it seems that time is limited and It can be very difficult to cut back on all those snacks like cakes, sweets and biscuits.
The harsh reality is though, eating too much unhealthy food can actually rob you of your time, health and fitness, by knocking years of your life or leaving you disabled or unhealthy.
You can still enjoy some of those treats and fast foods, but they should not be the basis of your daily diet.
When you find yourself craving for those high in fat and sugar foods, ask yourself what is more important to you, looking great, being in good shape, being healthy and feeling good or satisfying your taste buds.
What you have to bare in mind is, the pleasure you get from eating those unhealthy foods, does not last long.
They may make you feel good initially, but that feeling won't last and you will find yourself needing more food to help you feel better.
If you eat to help you dealing with your feelings, rather than because you're hungry then there are better ways to help you feel good like and cope with your emotions, exercising or learning how to reduce your stress.
But the pleasure that you will get from, being slim, healthy and fit will last you a
lifetime and your kids, friends and family will feel a lot better knowing you have decreased your health risks.
Choosing a diet plan
To really see
best results from any diet plan you choose to use, you need to learn a few ‘diet commandments’.
These are guidelines that must be followed if you are going to see superior results that will help propel you forward.
Sadly, many people miss out on one or more of these and it greatly costs them their success.
Want to learn more? Check out the list of five commandments below.
Thou Shall Eat More Protein
Of all the foods that you could eat while on a fat loss diet, protein is perhaps the most important.
Protein helps combat hunger, it helps stabilize blood glucose levels, and it helps prevent lean muscle mass loss. This in turn helps speed up your metabolism and accelerates the process of fat loss.
Don’t let your diet intake fall short. Aim to eat some protein in each and every meal and snack that you consume.
Thou Shall Eat Regularly
While the concept that your metabolism will increase the more often you eat isn’t entirely accurate — as the boost you get after a meal is directly related to the size of that meal — eating regularly does help to keep hunger at bay.
By feeding your body frequently throughout the day, you’ll help avoid food cravings, energy lows, and make it that much easier to stick to your diet program.
Thou Shall Prioritize Fresh Foods
When selecting your foods, eating fresh is a must. We live in a world where processed foods are around every corner and just waiting to cause us weight gain.
Eliminate these and you’ll really give your diet a boost. Focus on foods in their natural state — fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and oils, and lean proteins.
If you only make one change to your diet plan, make it this one.
Thou Shall Set Short Term Goals
One diet rule that you should abide by and follow is to always set short term goals for yourself. Think about what you are doing in the here and now, not months from now. It’s too easy to lose sight of your goals if they are going to take place six months to a year down the road.
Try thinking in three-week segments. Three weeks is about how long it takes for good habits to form, so is the perfect amount of time to you build behaviors that will stand the test of time.
This is precisely why The 3 Week Diet was created. It will help you stay motivated and consistent until you don’t even have to think about making those changes any longer — They’ll just be automatic.
Thou Shall Stop Comparisons
Finally, stop comparing yourself to others. Realize that this is your own journey and your own body. It’s unlike anyone
else’s so you simply can’t expect to see the same results as everyone else.
Instead, start comparing yourself today to yourself from yesterday. That will give you all the details you need to know. If each day you are getting better, you are successful in your journey.
So keep these diet commandments in mind. Focus on these and you can feel confident that you are headed in the right direction.
