Goal Setting-Why Your Goals Should Be Desire Driven And Not Money Driven
It is important to set goals as they can supply you with many positive benefits, such as, they can give you a purpose in life, they can give you direction and focus and they can better your life in many other ways.
Without setting goals we tend to aimlessly move through life without any clear direction, not knowing where we are going.
If you want to better your life or become successful, then you will need to set a goal, because setting a goal sews the seeds for a better life and a better you, further down the line.
Where you will be in five or even 10 years time will depend on the goals and intentions that you set and follow today.
Before you set yourself a life goal, you have to know exactly what you want, this should involve having a clear intention in your mind of what you want to accomplish, and more importantly why you want to achieve it.
People who are successful have a relentless drive to better themselves and what they're doing and a lifelong mission to better who they are.
Life goals, or big goals, can take time and a lot of work and effort, and there is no guarantee that you will get the results that you want, having said that, there is no reason why you can't achieve your goal and more either.
Many people set goals, some achieve them, but many don't, or not on the first attempt, so you have to be in it for the long haul if you want to achieve your goal.
One of the main reasons why people fail to obtain their goals is because they make them a struggle or they get fed up and give up too soon.
Although goals can take work and effort, this should be inspired action, where you get in the zone and go with the flow.
Because, when you take the path of least resistance, then you will achieve what you want quicker and easier.
This is not to say that you won't be met with obstacles and challenges, but challenges are a lot easier to tackle when you face them with a positive and optimistic outlook and attitude.
Try to take all the struggle out of the equation.
"The harder you struggle, the more you will struggle"
For the ones who persevere, the rewards for all their efforts, are well worth it.
The golden rule should always be,
"Your happiness and well-being should not be a condition of your desired goal or outcome"
If it is, then you will struggle to get to where you want to be.
Keeping the success mindset
Those who have achieved great success, and there is no reason why you can't emulate the same results as the highly successful, have had to overcome many setbacks and failed attempts along the way.
Do not let this put you off, you should never judge your efforts as failing, because, failing is a big part of learning, gathering new information and improving your skill levels, adding more value or providing a better quality of service.
There may be times, when you have to start all over again, or go in a new and different direction, again, see these as part of your learning and self educating process.
Each failure and setback is a chance to do things even better, if you persist with this attitude, you should be well on your way to success.
The bigger your goal the more likely you are to come face to face with adversity many times before you reach the success that you have set your sights on.
Many people preach about staying positive, and although you need to keep that success and positive mindset, there will be times when you feel stressed, frustrated, tired, fed up and disappointed.
You can not stay positive all the times, especially when you are having a bad day or adversity has struck you again.
This is especially so, when you have been putting all that extra hard work, you have been giving it all your best efforts and just when you're expecting positive results and gains.
Yet you find out that things have gone worse or not quite as
as you thought they would, or you have failed completely. good
During these bad and trying times, it is better to surrender to what has happened, accept it and allow it to happen, so you can quickly move through it and away.
Because if you try to be positive when things aren't going well, then you are likely to cause inner conflict and resistance.
Feelings are meant to be felt and processed, and it is a perfectly natural response to feel a bit deflated or grieved when things aren't going well, and every successful person has been on the verge of quitting many times.
What you want to avoid, is slipping into a downward spiral and allowing those toxic and negative thoughts, feelings and stories to take hold.
It can be hard to ride and weather the storm when your goal and ambitions seem to be falling apart, but you can learn a lot from the difficult and challenging times.
So, allow it to happen, then go and give yourself a treat, do some meditating or deep relaxing techniques, go for a walk, have an early night or do something that you enjoy.
Then when you're feeling more refreshed and motivated, get that success and positive mindset that winner's attitude going again.
When you have a clear mind again and calm interior, try and analyze and work out where you might have gone wrong, ask yourself, what could you have done better, or try and figure things out and come back stronger and better.
Examine how you were feeling at the time, when things went wrong, both emotionally and physically and try and find out, what action work you can do to improve and better your results or your performances.
Learn from others, but put your own idea's out there as well
Although, many experts recommend taking an existing concept that is already proven to work, and that is a good place to start.
Having a mentor, can fast track your results as you can use their knowledge, wisdom and expertise.
You can save yourself a lot of time by studying and learning from the experts in your chosen field.
But it can also pay to try and offer something a bit different, so don't be afraid to put your own spin on things and diversify a bit if your intuition is telling you to do so.
Or just take a successful concept and make it better and make it your own.
It is your journey, so put your own idea's out there and use your creativity, and don't be afraid to make mistakes or get things wrong.
A goal should be driven by desire and not money
We all want more money, money is good, it can help you to live a better quality of life and provide you with security and many other benefits.
Many self help experts tell us to set financial goals or targets,
Having said that, money should not be the number one reason behind your goal, because if you set your goals with the sole intention of making X amounts of money, then this can backfire and cause you endless amounts of stress, frustration, disappointments and it can even lead to depression.
This does not mean that you cannot make a lot of money from setting a goal, many people do, but what you don't often hear is, many people who set out to make a lot of money, do not always achieve it.
When you chase money, it is usually one step ahead of you.
If you want to make more money, then it is far better to focus on doing the things that can bring you more money and striving to do those things well.
This could range from, adding value to other people's life, giving them something that they want, helping them solve a problem or entertaining them.
The Universe helps those who help others, either by providing them with pleasure or enjoyment, like entertainment or technology, or leisure.
Or making their life better and easier or helping them when they are going through a difficult time in their lives.
If you want to become successful or you have a goal that you want to set and achieve, then the driving force behind your goal should be, desire and passion.
Because a goal without a strong desire, equates to a job or task and without the backing of a desire, you will struggle to motivate or inspire yourself.
Your goals should not just be geared around money, because it is all about doing the things you love, living the life you want or following what you feel passionate about.
Of course, if you're setting up a business, then you will want to make a profit, but if you're setting up a second income, then remember to offer quality and excellence.
Rather than just setting yourself clear financial targets, it may help to motivate you by, focusing on what you want out of life.
This could range from
- Having a bigger house
- Having a new car
- Better more rewarding career
- Financial security
- Time freedom
- Money freedom
- Working on your fitness and health
- Better life experience
- Having great relationships
- Learning a new language
Being smart, creative and intelligent, and doing things right, by supplying quality and honest, high value and service as you can is probably a better way of making money rather than setting yourself financial targets.
A good code of ethic where you put the welfare of others before the money, can also help you, and when you combine this with adding value, you will increase your chances of making more money.
Of course, not everybody sets goals to make money, many people set goals because they have a bucket list of things that they want to achieve or they just want to lose a bit of weight, live a healthier lifestyle or set themselves a challenge that they want to complete.
You should define your own successes by achieving all the things that you want to achieve.
And who knows, when you follow your passion, pursue a hobby or you learn a new skill, you might start making money from it.
Many people make a lot of money by converting their hobbies or knowledge into cash.
Set goals that motivate you
When you set your goal, it will need to be a goal that is realistic to your current situation, and the amount of time and money that you have available to begin with.
Obviously things can change and you may need to reevaluate your goal as you go, but if you begin by setting an unrealistic goal for you.
Or if you set unachievable targets and results that are impossible for you to achieve in the time scale that you have set, then this can demoralize you or push you to work to hard.
Because if your goal is not fun and enjoyable, then you will struggle to stay motivated.
Your goals need to be obtainable to you, and it needs to be something that you can fit in around with your other commitments.
Your goals should ideally add meaning and purpose to your life.
An inspired goal that keeps you mentally positively focused and engaged, can help to keep away any negativity and worry, because it will give your mind something useful to occupy it.
If your desire is strong and your goal is big enough, then it can also stave off boredom and stagnation, by giving your life new meaning and a new exciting direction..
Do something that will give you a sense of pride and satisfaction, a goal that gives you a sense of achievement and fulfillment.
